Ahrend x Gabriel – Designing better workspaces, together

When thoughtful design meets textile expertise, the result is solutions that elevate everyday working life. The Ahrend S25 and S50 panels are upholstered in Gabriel fabrics laminated with Monoback on the back side; a unique combination that delivers both visual harmony and high performance.

Developed through a close collaboration between Ahrend and Gabriel, these panels are designed to enhance all workspaces. They improve acoustics, offer visual privacy, and help create a more focused, comfortable, and inspiring environment.

Why panels with Monoback delivers premium performance

  • Paired with 100% polyester fabrics, Monoback delivers full recyclability.
  • 100 % post-consumer recycled material.

  • Enhanced acoustic absorption through a dual effect – Monoback dampens sound while allowing air to pass through to underlying absorber materials, resulting in a quieter, more harmonious environment.

  • Fits many screen and panel types and drapes well.

  • A refined finish that enhances both tactile comfort and visual appeal.

A shared commitment

Ahrend and Gabriel share a common vision: to create better workspaces by prioritising the well-being of both people and the environment. With the S25 and S50 panels, this vision comes to life in a versatile, responsible solution that brings function, comfort, and character to any professional setting.

Moving backing forward – with purpose

Powering these panels is Monoback150, a refined, high-performance backing. Designed to adapt to any solution, Monoback seamlessly complements the clean lines of Ahrend's S25 and S50 panels, while enhancing both the visual and acoustic experience of a space; without adding unnecessary complexity.

With its upholstery abilities, smoothening effect and sound-absorbing qualities, Monoback not only adds technical performance – it also enhances the tactile and visual appeal of the panels. The lamination process subtly enriches fabric textures, creating surfaces that are both beautiful and comfortable to the touch.

Compared to traditional PU foam, Monoback S150 offers a more sustainable alternative – made from 100% post-consumer recycled PET and fully recyclable when paired with polyester fabrics. It supports circular material flows by avoiding difficult-to-recycle components and reducing material consumption overall. When used with compatible fabrics and adhesives, Monoback laminates also meet OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Class II requirements.

Moving from foam: Monoback in Ahrend’s panels

What happens when you rethink what goes on behind the fabric?

In close collaboration with Ahrend, Gabriel replaces traditional foam with Monoback – a new generation of backing made from recycled fibres. Designed for simplicity, durability and comfort, Monoback transforms the interior of the S50 and S25 panels from the inside out.

No foam. Pure intent. Smarter build.

The need for circular solutions is more urgent than ever. At Ahrend, we design our S50 and S25 panels to be reused again and again; which means every material that goes into them must support that goal. That’s why we work with partners like Gabriel: Monoback forms the inner layer of the panel, while their polyester fabrics finish the surface. Together, these materials make full recyclability possible.

Lizzy Stuyfzand, Sustainability Specialist, Ahrend

With enhanced acoustic properties, cleaner construction and long-lasting textile performance, Monoback brings more to the table, while reducing complexity in both design and refurbishment.

Monoback offers a strong alternative to traditional foam; delivering durability, acoustic comfort and a refined finish, without the use of unnecessary material layers. It’s a clear choice for projects that demand high quality, efficiency and long-lasting performance.
