By day, the festival headquarters offered a calm and welcoming environment where visitors could meet, work or simply take a break between screenings. Large textile panels divided the historic rooms into smaller, more intimate spaces, adding warmth, softness and a sense of rhythm without concealing the building's architecture.

The textiles created a flexible landscape that encouraged movement and interaction. Their tactile surfaces absorbed sound, softened the daylight and demonstrated how materials can shape the experience of a space in subtle yet meaningful ways.

As evening arrived, the atmosphere shifted completely. Coloured lighting transformed the same textile installations into immersive architectural elements, while the festival bar became a lively gathering place filled with conversation and music.

The changing light revealed new qualities in the fabrics, allowing colour and texture to evolve throughout the evening. The installation illustrated how textiles can influence not only acoustics and comfort, but also mood, creating spaces that feel dynamic without changing their physical form.

Beyond the lounge, the material palette continued into the festival's cinema and stage area. Here, the focus became storytelling, providing a calm backdrop for film premieres, conversations with directors and award ceremonies.

Soft seating upholstered in Gabriel textiles balanced comfort with a clean visual expression, supporting long screenings while complementing the temporary setting created for the festival.

The installation was conceived with longevity in mind. Rather than creating a one-time exhibition, the textile elements were designed to be dismantled, reconfigured and reused throughout the three-year partnership between CPH:DOX, Gabriel and Montana.

It is an approach that reflects a broader way of thinking about temporary spaces. Instead of designing for a single moment, the project demonstrates how thoughtful material choices can create environments that continue to evolve, adapt and inspire over time.
