Built on in-house expertise

We have developed Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for 28 of our textiles – and the number continues to grow. Our focus has been on doing the work thoroughly, using our own internal expertise and integrating the process into our broader sustainability efforts.

The result is a growing set of EPDs that are not only third-party verified, but also rooted in genuine insight and strong internal knowledge.

We’ve done the work ourselves – and that makes a difference

At Gabriel, all EPD-related data collection and calculations have been carried out in-house by our own Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Specialists – unlike the general industry practice, where this work is often outsourced.

Gabriel also owns a large part of the production chain, which gives us direct access to consumption data from production – such as energy and water use per textile. This allows us to produce more precise LCA results and act directly on insights to optimise processes.

Supporting our customers with data that matters

We see LCAs and EPDs not just as documentation tools, but as part of a broader commitment – supporting our customers, partners, and suppliers in making informed decisions that take environmental factors into account.

Because our work is based on in-house knowledge, direct data access and strong internal infrastructure, we’re able to guide and assist with everything from technical understanding to practical application. Our systems enable fast and accurate access to product-specific data – such as energy and water consumption per textile.

We are expanding LCAs and EPDs across our full product portfolio – and we continue improving our methods, processes, and products along the way.

To make EPDs easier to understand, we have created a short explanatory document describing the different impact categories. It is designed to give our customers and partners a clearer understanding of how to read and use an EPD, which can otherwise feel complex.

What is an LCA – and what is an EPD?

LCA – Life Cycle Assessment
An LCA evaluates a product’s potential environmental impact across its entire life cycle – from raw material to disposal. It considers a wide range of factors including climate impact, resource use, emissions, and water consumption. The purpose is to enable fact-based decision-making with a holistic view of environmental performance.

EPD – Environmental Product Declaration
An EPD is a standardised way of communicating LCA results. It is third-party verified and enables fair comparison between products. EPDs follow a defined structure for the methodology and content, and are designed to support transparency and environmentally responsible choices.
